Cookie Battle Royale 2016

Cookie Battle Royale 2016 was one for the ages. This year we added a new judge, new rules, and six new recipes.

The Rules of the Game

The Cookie Battle Royale of 2015 marked our first annual cookie competition, so we set out to make this year’s even more grand and added a new element to the challenge. This time around we required all competitors to use the ingredient peanut butter, a la the Food Network show Chopped.

And of course as tradition dictates, this competition is a blind taste test.

The Battle

Judge Joe had a difficult job on his hands, everyone brought their A game and cookies of all shapes and sizes (seriously Ben made some giant cookie sandwiches this year). And as always, last year’s victor Joel proved to be some tough competition. Leave it to him to add a curry curveball to a peanut butter cookie and make it work.

The Results

In the end, it was the newbie to the competition, Kelly, who brought home the gold and the glory. She made some seriously fantastic Banana Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies that were the perfect amount of ooey-gooey. But the story doesn’t end there. We thought Kelly’s recipe was gone forever when the blog she adapted it from suddenly went private. Luckily our in-house sleuth, Mark, was on the case and was able to rescue Kelly’s winning recipe! So we’re happy to share hers and all the other recipes with you.
